For the first 30 years of my life, I wasted a lot of time. And I mean, a lot of time. It was kind of scary how much I could have accomplished, how many businesses I could have started, how many six-packs I could have garnered, how much really I could have done.
If I had only stopped wasting my time earlier.
Well, we can’t change the past. But we can change the present. And that’s why in the present moment, in everything I do, and everything that I am, I am always, always, always focusing on the big question.
“What am I doing right now with my time, and is this the best use of my time right now?”
Consciously Spend Every Moment Of Your Life
I am not telling you to be robots, and have every second of your life strictly scheduled. That’s perhaps just a me thing. But, I am absolutely telling you to be more conscious of how you spend every moment.
If you are choosing consciously to spend the next few minutes, on Instagram, and Netflix, then that’s awesome. I love that. But, if you are doing it unconsciously, that is when the problem creeps up.
In my day, I will have moments when I will have spent a lot of energy on work, and I will stop working for a few seconds, to play a game. I am consciously doing this now, whereas in the past, I would have wasted hours on unnecessary play without realizing it.
Now, I will tell myself, I am going to spend the next few minutes playing this online game, and then I can come back to work, without worrying about being tired. It’s a rejuvenating experience for me, and I am able to come back to work refreshed, and ready to tackle more.
Does this make sense to you? Will you try it out in your own life?
