We are leaving today. I mean, we are leaving today…
Okay, one last time, WE ARE LEAVING TODAY! Yikes, no matter how many times Thenix says those words to me, I do not believe them.
They are surreal – the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that no one has ever seen. The dreams that we built in the air that now have foundations under them. The far-off future that has now come upon us.
We are going – we are truly, truly leaving.
There were a few glitches on the way – but in general, the universe supported our decision to go and made our path as smooth as possible. The funny thing about this beginning is that it is so anti-climactic. What is our first stop, you ask? The sunny paradise of Hamilton, Ontario… We are going to our favourite Kartist (Nick) to get some final touches on the car.
A number of thoughts are going through my head right now as I write this post. It seems as if a million moments have passed by since we first made the decision to go on this trip. I never imagined that the little trip to South America that we were planning a year ago, would turn out to be such a major life-changing experience as it is now. It has turned into a trip that will literally change the course of our lives, causing us to more fully live our dreams.
We are literally paving the path to being able to earn money as we travel. We wish to be location independent individuals. The world is a huge place – we wish to explore every nook and cranny with our laptops and our backpacks. We also want to be able to inspire others to do the same. The more our generation learns about how others in this world live, the more we will be able to reduce the grip of consumerism and move towards freedom.
We will have some pictures of our packed up car. Hopefully you will stick with us through this journey and give us some hints on how to keep from killing each other in such close quarters.
If you haven’t heard of the Big Trip yet, you are in for a treat.
Boom and Thenix are travelling to the southern most tip of South America, through the West Cost of US, Mexico and parts of South America and back up the East Coast.
We are planning on leaving on or around June 21st. We have made a detailed budget for the trip and we have included it here for those of you who are curious about how much a trip like this would cost. We will travel for a total of 50,000 kms to around 22 countries. If you have any other questions about the trip please see our post on The Big Trip or check out our Archives Page.
